I'm running KOTOR1 1.03 patched + K1R 0.9 beta on Windows 8.1 64-bit. , I think I remember seeing the second link you posted at one point. It used to let me play the game at widescreen 1080p but now it only shows higher resolutions half the time or it crashes when you try to change the resolution.
